The thunderous roar of Lower Falls echoes through the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone.  The Yellowstone River crashes 308 feet as it drops off a shelf of dense volcanic bedrock and carves a trench through the softer, less erosion resistant rock below.  A process that has been making the canyon deeper and grander for 150,000 years.
